Motorbike Shows
If you’re in Leeds around May, then why not head to the motorbike show in honour of the 11th anniversary of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride? This show will display over 200 classic and vintage motorbikes, including Café Racers and Old School Choppers. It has raised millions for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health programmes and is a fantastic outing. Head to The Boulevard in Leeds Dock on 22nd May 2024 – 11am-12.30pm.
There’s also the Royal Armouries Classic Car Show, which is worth checking out. It is hosted this year by the Royal Armouries and Chevin Motor Club and is being held on Sunday, 9th June, 10am-4pm. All classic vehicles are welcome, so there’s always a great range to see. Book early, as tickets do sell out fast!
All-Year Motorbike Events
Iron City Bike Night
This is a fantastic monthly event held by the Iron City Motorcycle dealerships in Leeds and Gateshead – it’s on the last Thursday of every month at the dealerships themselves. Whether you’ve been riding for decades or dipping your toe into motorbike culture, it’s a great evening. Everyone is welcome no matter what you’re riding, so it’s a great place to get connected to other bikers in the area.
East Leeds Motorcycle Action (ELMCA)
This is a fantastic resource for bikers in Leeds, bringing together resources, training, and rides in and around the Leeds area. For instance, you can find out about:
- Micklefield Motorcross track – Big tracks and smaller ones for kids.
- Bumpy Ltd – Motorcycle activity and training centre
- Parkwood – A fantastic outdoor and offroad venue for all types of vehicles and other activities.
They also host training programs, for instance, teaching people how to repair or maintain bikes and cars. They’re a great contact for any biker in the area.
Leeds Motorcycle Training
Host the only purpose-built motorbike training centre in the area and provide teaching courses for every type of two-wheel vehicle you could think of. Just starting out or wanting to refresh your skills – these are the people to talk to.
Biker Haunts
Post Hill
Post Hill is a beautiful outdoor space where the bravest of bikers can test out their rides on a climb of 527 feet. West Leeds Motor Club holds trials and races at the site annually – you can get tickets to the events on their website.
This ultimate motorbike hang-out is a little outside Leeds, but when you’re planning a ride in the area, you should definitely mark it as a place to stop. They even have Speedstyle, a bike accessory shop on the grounds. They host a bike night every Wednesday; check out their Thursday blog for what happened the night before if you want to get in the mood before you go.
Elaine’s Tea Rooms
A fantastic tearoom that is well worth a detour to visit. Plenty of parking and is open all week, year-round 8.30-4.30. Sundays are particularly popular with bikers in the area, so if you want to find some fellow enthusiasts or learn more about local rides, head out there and get chatting.
